SANTA FE — An investigation into allegations of cockfighting led to the Thursday arrest of a Santa Fe man on felony charges, authorities said. Officers arrested the man accused of raising roosters to sell for fighting. Officers found no signs of animal cruelty, so the man was able to keep his birds, Lt. Joel Caldwell, an animal cruelty investigator with the Galveston Police Department, said.

A fire destroyed half of the Full Gospel Lighthouse Church near Santa Fe, prompting an arson investigation by the Galveston County Sheriff's Office into the cause of the blaze.
The front half of the church in the 4500 block of Holloway Road in unincorporated Galveston County was destroyed in the Tuesday morning blaze, but firefighters saved the rear structure. No injuries were reported. |

Santa Fe police on Thursday released security camera video and photos from an armed robbery that happened at the Exxon convenience store on Monday.
A man described as black, from 5-foot-7 to 6-feet tall, wearing blue athletic pants, a black jacket, white rag on his head and blue bandanna covering his face, entered Exxon North, 1105 FM 646, at 8:29 p.m. Monday, Santa Fe police said. The man pointed a gun at the clerk and fled with cash after ordering the store clerk to go into the back of the store. In the video, you can see that the robbery didn't take that long (a total of 12 seconds) and that clerk wisely did not put up any resistance. PHOTOS Photo of the robber leaving the store. Although 22 train cars derailed Thursday, February 18 in Santa Fe, prompting mandatory evacuations, only two overturned tankers leaked oil and solid waste. The evacuation order was lifted about two hours after the 5:25 a.m. incident at FM 646 S. and state Highway 6, with the exception of residences next to the derailment site, Santa Fe police said.
