UPDATE: The owner of the waterlogged Bugatti was identified by police on Friday as Andy House of Lufkin. Click here for the full update.
Also Friday, video of the actual crash surfaced online. Matt Hardigree the associate editor of Jalopnik.com, a Web site for car enthusiasts, posted the video shot by a man who was traveling north on I-45. No pelican was visible in the video, which shows the car veering from the road and splashing in the lagoon.
On Saturday we heard from the University of Texas Medical student Joe Garza who actually shot the video. You will hear from him more in a story on Tuesday. Below is the link to his video.
ORIGINAL POST: A distracted owner of a Bugatti Veyron, one of the world's fastest production cars, accidently drove Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, the French-built automobile into a saltwater lagoon in La Marque. The driver was uninjured, but the car, which can sell for around $2 million, was partially submerged in three feet of water.
Couldn't help but notice that he dropped his cell phone. Most likely that means he was talking on his cell before this happened. When will we all come to the realization that NO ONE is a skilled enough driver to drive and hold a cell phone and talk on it at the same time?

Is this a case of one having more money than brains? And only from Lufkin. And if I had that kind of money, Galveston? Uh, no.
