Boater’s World Marine Center won't be making a post-Ike return, confirms Craig Clark, president of Harold A. Clark and Co., which owns the shopping center in which the store has operated in a 6,000-square-foot space since 2002.
The company
has filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy and is closing all of its stores. (Did anyone else notice this weekend the “store closing” sign at the Webster location?) Boater's World is owned by the
troubled retailer Ritz Camera.
A League City reader pointed out that the departure of Boater’s World leaves only independents such as
Blue Water Ships in Kemah. Of course, the island still has
West Marine, which recently reopened after making Hurricane Ike repairs.
This is boating territory. So, I've always wondered why there aren't more boating stores in the county. Why do you think that is?
