Brandon is showing good business savy but concentrating on the North part of the county. This is deffinately the high growth area of the county. Even during this downturn people are moving to North Galveston County. With todays annoucement of developing a medical corridor in the Victory Lakes/FM646 area this will add more impetous to the growth. This growth will be more of the upper end growth than just retail box stores.

I think at this point anything could only help Dickinson. They really need to get someone to work on pitching the city to businesses in order to get better retail in the city.

Congratulations Brandon! I wish you every success and am so sorry about your terrible experience with police brutality on the part of the GPD and horrible ethics on the part of the Galveston County DA.

I am sure that such a beating at the hands of the GPD and Kurt Sistrunk's slavish compliance with the GPD's wishes would have soured anyone on opening a business on the island.

Islanders should keep such loss of potential businesses opening on the island in mind as we deal with the issues regarding downsizing the GPD.

Hmmmm - a bar run by a famous ballplayer in his hometown barrier island? Think that would have helped Galveston's image right now? I sure do.

Micky Mantle's was one of the most popular restaurants in NYC for decades.

May Dickinson be worthy of Backe's choice. Galveston certainly wasn't.

Why does the negative always have to come forth when someone from Galveston moves forward? I love my island and always will, but sometimes it seems as if negativity prevails. Brandon, you know I will always support you in your endeavors!!

Might be a good time for Backe to look for some alternative income. His arm has been fading over the past couple of seasons and his '05 playoff run seems like a distant memory. Best of luck to Brandon this season he needs it
