Power outages, which were spotty on Galveston Island earlier, are now widespread from the West End to the East End, as winds increase with the approach of Hurricane Ike.

Stan,
Thanks for keeping the information flowing. I'm stuck many miles from home. While I'm safe, I worried about my friends and family members that are still in the area. While I don't live in Galveston, I'm able to get a mental image of what's likely going on in my little nook and cranny of League City.
Now, it is just me, or is it kind of tacky for someone to come onto the blogs at a time like this to try and "hawk" some product or service.

Kevin,
If it is any consolation to you, I have been in touch with a couple of people who have stayed in League City and they weather the storm fairly well. I hope that is the case with you, also.
